| 内容記述 | The age of Chaucer shows us not only cold and correct facts and knowledge, but also living human wisdom. It is quite useful and beneficial to study the past and investigate the ideas of the people in the past. In other words, the problems in his era are quite similar to those in the modern age. The wars in his age between England and France were caused by drawing the clear border between neighboring countries. In a sense, it is possible to say that we have the same situation as they had, though they were in a different place and different time. Among many significant contributions to English literature Chaucer made is there the language he used and created in a most fine and elegant way. Every poet and writer who uses the English language after that is quite influenced by his language. It is exactly why he is described as the “Father of English Poetry"" by John Dryden." |
